Sorry No Photos at Present

We are sorry we have been unable to post any photos but we have had wifi problems in the Flanders hostel.

Our 2 days here have been very busy with visiting sites, museums and cemeteries. A number of staff and students have presented their research into diggers and it has been very moving.

We are just home from the Menin Gate ceremony in Ypres and it was a very emotional event. The wreath was laid on behalf of the College, Grafton and the Clarence Valley by Madeleine Short, Barnard Howard and Carol Toms. We met representatives from the Ypres Rotary Club, who also help organise the ceremony, and they asked Caitlin Nash to read the Ode of Rememberance, this is a very rare honour.

We are all very tired but well and in good spirits. Tomorrow we head to Saint Quentin and the Somme and prepare for ANZAC Day.

Hopefully we will have better wifi there.

Morning Walkers St Mihiel

We had a great walk to the ruined monastery above the town.

Happy Birthday Barney

Barney turned 18 at St Mihiel. He had a great cake and received presents from all the group.

St Mihiel Hostel

Our hostel in St Mihiel was very old and run down with very basic facilities, however, we were overwhelmed by the team of old folk who came to look after us.
The 2 home coked meals we had here were spectacular.

Verdun with Florence Lamousse

This is the 4th time that Florence Lamousee has been a tour guide for the College. On the 1st tour in 2007 Flo was presented with a small koala bear called Grafton. When we visit Flo always brings Grafton along. This year we decided Grafton needed a friend and so we presented her with McAuley the kangaroo.
Here we are at the World War 1 trench system in St Mihiel.

The Best View From A Table Tennis Game Ever

The Welt Meister of the Table tennis were Brandon Disson and James O'Keefe

A Walk in the Black Forest

The 6am walking group had a terrific walk in the Black Forest, sadly no coffee shops.

Our Hostel in the Black Forest

Sorry no posts for a few days but we have had no wifi at all.
Our hostel in the Black Forest was spectacular. A 200 year old castle with spectacular views over the Rhine River valley.
