The trip from Dubai to Munich was incredible in the 2 story Airbus 380 with 500 other people. Lots more room than the plane from Brisbane.
We arrived on time to a very cool foggy Munich. At arrivals was the lovely Kristen Engels from Dusseldorf with her mum and dad who had driven 4 hours to see us. Kristen was an exchange student at McAuley last year. She is spending today with us before heading back north this afternoon.
A coach met us at the Airport and delivered us to the A&O Hostel. We had 20 mins to change before catching a tram into the city centre, 15 mins away.
The Saturday afternoon streets were packed with shoppers. So much to see.. One busker had a grand piano!!!!!
We had 2 hours in town and watched the Glockenspiel performance at 5pm before catching the tram home. It was very cold at sunset but our hostel is lovely and warm.
At dinner we celebrated Caitlin Nash's 17th birthday. We worked out that because of the flight her birthday lasted 36 hours!!!!!
At dinner last night the group gave Caitlin a jewelled magic lamp from Dubai.
Everyone was very tired after 48hrs of travelling.
Today the tour really starts in earnest.
9am High Mass at St Michael's Jesuit Church in town
1pm out to Allianz Arena. TSV 1860 v Ienergie Cottbus football game
4pm Munich City Museum
6pm dinner and traditional entertainment at the Hofbrauhaus a famous Munich beer hall where Adolf Hitler made many speeches.
Hope to have more pics up soon. When I sort something out.
